Eni to use ‘Floatel Superior’ on Goliat field

Eni Norge AS has received consent from the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway to use the Floatel Superior, an accommodation and construction support vessel, as a flotel for the Goliat field in the Barents Sea.

Floatel Superior was built at the Keppel FELS shipyard in Singapore and completed in March 2010.

The vessel is operated by Floatel International AB (FIAB) of Gothenburg. It is registered in Bermuda and classified by DNV GL. The unit received Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) in December 2010.

Goliat is an oil field located around 50 kilometres south-east of the Snøhvit field in the Barents Sea. Water depth in the area is 360-420 metres. The Goliat field is being developed using a circular FPSO which includes eight subsea templates with a total of 32 well slots. The subsea templates will be tied to the FPSO using an integrated storage and loading system.

The Goliat FPSO headed to its Barents Sea location yesterday. After the arrival, the vessel will be connected to its 14 anchor lines.
