In an Oslo Stock Exchange filing on Wednesday, Eidesvik Offshore said the contract was for the Viking Avant vessel. The contract is for three years and will begin in direct continuation of the current contract at the end of the year.

Jan Fredrik Meling, CEO of Eidesvik Offshore said: “We are very pleased with the new contract award from Equinor, which also enables us to install batteries and hybrid solutions for Viking Avant.

“This will be the 6th Eidesvik-vessel with batteries and hybrid solutions, and is a testament to Eidesvik’s commitment to developing our business and fleet to meet the market requirements of today and the future.”

The Viking Avant is a platform supply vessel built in 2004, under a VS 493 PSV design. It has a deck space of 1010 m².
