ESL Shipping, an Aspo Group company, launched on Friday its second LNG-fueled dry cargo vessel at the Jinling shipyard in Nanjing, China.

The 160-meter dry cargo vessel named Haaga has now been moved to the outfitting quay.

Its sister vessel Viikki was launched at the end of August and the work has “progressed as expected” at the outfitting quay, according to a statement by Helsinki -based ESL Shipping.

The vessels of 25,600 dwt fueled by liquefied natural gas will produce more than 50 percent lower carbon dioxide emissions than vessels of the previous generation, ESL Shipping claims.

They will start operating on the Baltic Sea during the first half of 2018.
