Croatian LNG project on the island of Krk has moved another step forward with the formal signing of the European Union’s Connecting Europe facility grant.

The €101 million grant was signed on Thursday, EU’s Innovation & Networks Executive Agency said in a brief social media statement.

When announced in February, INEA said the grant will be used for the studies for the FSRU solution at the terminal as well as the construction of the facility.

LNG Croatia, the state-owned company developing the project, invited bidders to take part in the purchase of a FSRU and the construction of the terminal’s jetty and the connecting pipeline.

According to the project development schedule, FSRU to serve the project will be procured by the end of the current year with an expected delivery by the end of 2019.

Commercial operations at the terminal are planned to start at the beginning of 2020.
