Euronav’s Vessel Deal with Maersk Half Way There

In January this year Euronav NV disclosed the acquisition of fifteen Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCC) from Maersk Tankers Singapore Pte Ltd.  The company has informed the public that 8 of the VLCCs were delivered in the first half of 2014.

VLCCs Nautilus and Nucleus, delivered in February, were the first to leave Maersk and join Euronav’s fleet.

The next two months saw no new deliveries, with Navarin being delivered in May.

The month of June on the other hand was rather busy for both companies, with five new vessels: Sara, Newton, Ilma, Nautic and Ingrid departing Maersk and heading to Euronav.

Deliveries of the remaining VLCCs from the acquired Maersk fleet will increase the company’s fleet by another 7 VLCCs.

Those deliveries are scheduled to take place in the month of July, save for one vessel (Maersk Sandra) which shall be delivered no later than March 30th, 2015.
