Ex-ConocoPhillips man joins Woodside board

Australian energy company Woodside has appointed a non-executive director to its board of directors, effective February 1, 2017.

Woodside said on Friday that Larry Archibald would join the company as an independent director.

The company’s Chairman Michael Chaney said that Archibald’s international experience in oil and gas exploration and ‘impressive record’ of exploration success would be a great asset to Woodside’s Board.

In 2015, Archibald retired from ConocoPhillips, where he spent eight years in senior executive positions including Senior Vice President, Business Development and Exploration, and Senior Vice President, Exploration. He previously spent 29 years at Amoco and BP in various positions including leading global exploration programs.

Archibald is also an adviser to exploration and production companies MainSail Energy and Guidestone Energy LLC and a global private equity investment firm Warburg Pincus.

He holds a Master of Business Administration from Regis College, a Bachelor of Science in Geosciences from the University of Arizona, and a Bachelor of Arts in Geology from the Colgate University.
