Excelerate Energy on Monday informed it has completed its 1000th commercial ship-to-ship transfer of liquefied natural gas at the GNL Escobar in Argentina at the end of August.

According to the company’s statement, 83,767 cubic meters of natural gas were transferred to Excelerate Energy’s floating storage regasification unit (FSRU) Expedient using a double-banked LNG transfer system.

Excelerate added that it has transferred over 108,000,000 cubic meters of LNG using its STS protocol to date.

The company’s chief development officer, Daniel Bustos said the operation was completed with both Enarsa and YPF of Argentina.

Excelerate developed YPF’s first LNG import terminal Bahía Blanca in 2008, making it South America’s first LNG import terminal, while the GNL Escobar was opened in 2011.

Excelerate performed 563 STS operations in Argentina at the two terminals, with 171 such operations carried out in Brazil.

The company has also performed 142 STS LNG transfers in Kuwait, 54 in Dubai and 39 in Pakistan, with more similar operations conducted in the Carribean, Cyprus, Gibraltar, Gulf of Mexico, United Kingdom and West Africa.
