Excelerate’s FSRU Explorer reaches 1 bcf/d sendout milestone

Excelerate Energy informed on Tuesday its upgraded FSRU Explorer deployed at the Jebel Ali LNG import terminal in Dubai reached a sendout capacity of 1 bcf/d.

According to Excelerate, the milestone for the FSRU industry was reached during the sendout performance tests, carried out recently.

Dubai Supply Authority (DUSUP) and Excelerate Energy signed a long-term time charter party agreement in 2014 for the vessel to replace the existing FSRU, as the demand for gas in Dubai increased. Under the agreement, Excelerate upgraded the Explorer FSRU.

The Explorer entered dry-dock for its upgrades in October 2015 with the modifications being completed in December 2015, Excelerate said.

Vessel’s regasification capacity was increased from 690 MMcf/d to 1 Bcf/d enabling DUSUP to import more LNG cargoes during a year.

Additionally, Excelerate said that the vessel has a first LNG bunker port installed in an FSRU. This enables small-scale LNG offtakers to bunker LNG directly from the Explorer, the company said.
