Exxon Hires PSV Quartet from Bourbon (Ireland)

Exxon Mobil, the world’s biggest publicly traded oil company, has hired four Platform Supply Vessels from the France-based ship owner Bourbon.

Several shipbrokers have reported that the oil company is leasing the PSVs in support of its drilling operations offshore Ireland.

Under the agreement, the vessels Bourbon Calm, Bourbon Rainbow, Bourbon Topaz and Bourbon Tampen will start the work on March 15. The vessels will be hired for a one well contract which will take approximately 120 days to complete. If needed, the oil company will have an option to extend the vessels’ contract for additional two months.

The vessels will support the recently hired Eirik Raude semi-submersible drilling rig which will be drilling  an exploration well at Dunquin prospect, located in Frontier Exploration Licence (FEL) 3/04, offshore Ireland.

Bourbon Offshore, the owner of the vessels, did not immediately respond to an e-mail seeking confirmation of the above mentioned agreements.
