Fairmount Summit Towed Pipelay and Heavy Lift Barge Acergy Polaris from Brazil to Gabon

Fairmount Marine’s tug Fairmount Summit had towed pipelay and heavy lift barge Acergy Polaris from Brazil to Gabon. The Acergy Polaris, owned by Subsea 7, is a multipurpose barge for pipelay and heavy lift activities in deepwater fields.

The barge, equipped with pipelay tower, heavy lift crane and accommodation, has a length of 137 meters and is almost 40 meter wide.

The Fairmount Summit, which just had delivered the semi submersible drilling rig Delba III in Brazil, was mobilized towards a location offshore Rio de Janeiro. After a stop for replenishments, bunkers and a crew change, the Fairmount Summit hooked up Acergy Polaris.

Fairmount Summit and Acergy Polaris safely arrived in Port Gentil, Gabon, after a flawless trans-Atlantic crossing. After delivery of Acergy Polaris in Port Gentil, Fairmount Summit was released from its duties and ready for her next assignment.

Fairmount’s fleet of tugs consists of five modern super tugs of 205 tons bollard pull each, especially designed for long distance towing, and a multipurpose support vessel.
