Fairmount Tows Noble Max Smith to Brazil

Super tugs Fairmount Sherpa and Fairmount Expedition, owned by a Dutch ocean towage specialist, Fairmount Marine, have towed the semi-submersible drilling rig Noble Max Smith  from the Gulf to Brazil. Both tugs hooked-up in Pascagoula Mississippi, USA.

The Noble Max Smith is a semi-submersible drilling rig owned by Noble Corporation and contracted by Shell for a drilling campaign offshore Brazil over a three year period at a dayrate of $407.000.

Prior to departure to Brazil the rig was prepared at a shipyard in Pascagoula Mississippi, USA.

After the 5,500 miles journey to Niterói, Brazil, the rig was moored at its position, with assistance from Fairmount Expedition tug.  The Noble Max Smith rig was built in 1980. It was refurbished in 1999.
