Fathom Adds Two Cuba Sailing Dates for Fall 2016

Carnival Corporation’s newest brand Fathom has added two Cuba cruise dates for fall 2016 in response to strong demand by its travelers.

The additional sailings will take place the weeks of October 9 and November 6.

For both week-long cruises, Fathom’s Adonia will depart PortMiami for three destinations in Cuba, including two days in Havana.

Fathom’s seven-day cruises from Miami to Cuba visit the ports of Havana, Cienfuegos and Santiago de Cuba.

“Carnival Corporation made history when Fathom arrived in Havana on May 2 of this year,” Tara Russell, president of Fathom, said, and it is still the only cruise line sailing from the US to this destination in the Caribbean.

In July 2015, Fathom received U.S. approval to sail from the U.S. to Cuba, however, Cuban-born Americans were not allowed to visit the island by sea in accordance with provisions of a law dating back to the Cold War Era. Having been faced with a lawsuit, the company said it would delay the journey until all passengers were clear to join the voyage.

The company announced in April this year it would sail as planned to Cuba, including with Cuba-born passengers on board, after receiving Cuban government approval.

Following the announcement, Fathom’s Adonia arrived in the Port of Havana on May 2, becoming the first US cruise line to sail from US to Cuba in 50 years.
