FESCO Connects Russia and Iran with Trans-Caspian Service

Russian transport operator FESCO Transportation Group, in cooperation with the port of Olya, is launching the Trans-Caspian intermodal service FESCO Russia Iran Service (FRIS), to transport cargo between Russia and Iran.

According to the company, the service includes shipping over the Caspian Sea and transshipment in ports Olya and Nowshahr or Bandar-e Anzali, as well as railway, motorway and highway transportation over Russia and Iran.

The service would see containerized and general cargoes shipped between the Russian port of Olya and the Iranian ports with an estimated en-route time of five days.

FESCO also revealed its future plans to launch linear services between the port of Olya and the Iranian ports.

“The launch of trans-Caspian service opens up new opportunities for the development of transport network between Russia and Iran. Shipping by sea, forming the core of the service, allows to minimize the rates and transit time, compared to the overland route,” FESCO said.

The first shipment of containers loaded with industrial cargo was delivered to Iran on March 13. The company plans to send a new shipment in late March.
