Fincantieri Goes with AEG Power Solutions for Seabourn Encore
Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri has selected the Netherlands-based AEG Power Solutions as a provider of power systems solutions for Seabourn Encore, an ultra-luxury cruise ship being built for Seabourn Cruise Line, a brand of Carnival Corporation.
A combination of AC (Protect 8 and Protect 4) UPS and DC (Protect TPR) systems will be delivered to Fincantieri in December this year. They will secure the electrical power supply for automation, ship digital communications, public address safety system, emergency diesel generator and low location lighting.
Seabourn Encore will start sailing in the end of 2016. The all-suite ship will be approximately 40,350 gross tonnes, 210 metres long and 28 metres wide and will be able to reach a cruising speed of 18.6 knots. It will carry up to 600 guests.
Fincantieri has built 70 cruise ships since 1990, of which 47 have been since 2002. Another 14 ships are currently being designed or built in the company’s yards.
