Finnish Pori Terminal Takes Delivery of First LNG Cargo

The first shipload of liquefied natural gas (LNG) arrived at Skangas LNG import terminal in Pori, Finland, on July 10, onboard a time chartered LNG carrier Coral Energy.

The 2012-built Coral Energy, with a capacity of 15,600 m3, brought the shipment from the North West Europe, the company said.

Finnish gas company Gasum Oy’s subsidiary Skangas LNG terminal is undergoing commissioning, and the firm expects that commercial deliveries will begin in September.

“With the Coral Energy LNG carrier now having arrived safely in Finland, we’ll be able to begin LNG deliveries to our customers immediately on the agreed schedule,” Gasum CEO and Chair of the Skangas Board of Directors Johanna Lamminen said.

The terminal, scheduled to be completed in August, would be Finland’s first LNG import terminal.

The project’s total investment amounts to EUR 81 million (USD 89.4 million), and energy support at EUR 23 million was granted for the terminal project by the Finnish Ministry for Employment and the Economy.

In 2015, Skangas supplied a total of 376,700 tonnes of LNG in Finland, Sweden and Norway.
