A fire broke out on board Petrobras-operated floating oil production, storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) P-48 on Thursday located in the Barracuda-Caratinga field in the Campos Basin, Brazil, the oil workers’ union Sindipetro-NF informed.

The union said that the fire was quickly contained and that the UMS City Quissamã maintenance and security unit which was linked to P-48 was undocked and unaffected by the fire.

As informed, the fire started at 13:30 Thursday, just after a shut down on the unit. Sindipetro-NF said that flames from the platform were up to 20 meters high.

The union director Tezeu Bezerra is scheduled to board the FPSO today within an inspection team appointed to investigate the cause of the incident and assess the damages.
