First July LNG delivery for UK’s South Hook

LNG carrier Al Karaana, with the capacity of 210,000 cubic metres, is due to arrive at the UK’s South Hook terminal from Qatar on July 3.

This will be the first July shipment of Qatari LNG to the 15.6 mtpa import facility located in Milford haven, according to port data.

The Q-Max carrier Al Karaana has about 80 percent more capacity than conventional LNG carriers with 40 percent lower energy requirements due to the economies of scale created by their size and the efficiency of the engines.

The Nakilat-owned LNG carrier was built and delivered by Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in October of 2009.
