First North Sea decommissioning awards to be held in May

Decom North Sea, the membership organization for the oil and gas decommissioning sector, has launched the first industry awards to be dedicated to decommissioning.

Decom North Sea said on Thursday that the Decom North Sea Awards would recognize efforts of organization members to innovate and collaborate within the sector, as well as an award for specific contribution to Decom North Sea.

Entries open on March 29, with winners announced at an awards ceremony and dinner, to be held in Aberdeen on May 22 – the evening prior to the organization’s annual Decom Offshore conference.

Decom North Sea interim chief executive, Tom Leeson, said: “Our primary role is to bring value to our members, and we do so by supporting the supply chain in winning work, and operators in meeting their regulatory obligations and cost control challenges.

“As the only membership organization dedicated to decommissioning, Decom North Sea is fully aware of the excellent work being undertaken within the sector. I encourage members to consider submitting an entry into the awards as the benefits to finalists and winners are twofold; in addition to industry level recognition for their hard work, it also provides an excellent opportunity to share their stories and lessons learned.”

Submissions to the categories of Outstanding Innovation and Excellence in Collaboration can be made until April 24.
