First Steel Cutting for Wallenius Vessel Scheduled in China

First delivery is planned for October 2015 and the last and fourth for the end of 2016.

Visually the most striking difference from their earlier generations of PCTCs and LCTCs is, apart from the 4.3 m larger post-panamax beam, its vertical bow designed to give better performance in waves than conventional bulbous bow-designs.

The accommodation is a one-tier design in order to obtain a low wind profile. The wheelhouse, navigation equipment and layout will be similar to previous designs.

On the engine and propulsion side, as in the whole project, the company is aiming for lowest possible fuel consumption. Examples of that are the integrated propeller and rudder design with a bulb on the rudder for higher efficiency and a new type of shaft generator of permanent magnet-type with higher efficiency.
