Five years after oil spill, BP stronger and safer, CEO says

BP CEO Bob Dudley held a keynote speech today during the second day of the IHS CERAweek energy conference in Houston. As expected, a significant part of the speech focused on the fifth anniversary of the Deepwater Horizon tragedy, and how BP has changed as a company since then.

“The Gulf of Mexico has proven resilient and is recovering faster than many expected.”

“The lessons we’ve learned & the changes we’ve made since the Deepwater Horizon accident have made us safer.”

“Among the new technologies developed since the spill are enhanced blowout preventers and capping stacks”
