Flexlife Delivers Paper on Package of Inspection Products for Flexible Pipe at MCE Conference (UK)

Subsea specialist flexlife will outline the cost and environmental benefits delivered for operators by its breakthrough approach to integrity management at a major event for the deepwater industry.

Integrity Technical Authority David Newman is delivering a paper at the MCE Deepwater Development conference in London (28-30 March 2011) on Flexlife’s package of inspection products for flexible pipe, proven to deliver 100% accurate results and reduce the risk of costly failures and improve environmental performance.

The event is recognised as the leading conference addressing technical issues related to engineering, development and production of oil & gas in deep and deepwater regions around the world. Organisers hope the conference will lead to a sharing of deepwater experience and as a result, improve quality, safety and economics vital to the future of the industry.

Flexible pipe is in common usage in the Oil & Gas industry and the number of flexibles is forecast to rise from approximately 3000 to 5,000 by 2015. Subsea projects are becoming more complex and levels of deepwater work are increasing. Inspection, monitoring and repair of flexible pipes is essential for safeguarding pipe integrity as part of an integrated integrity management programme.

Mr Newman will outline details of Flexlife’s patented products contributing to its integrity management offering, including UT scanning, outer sheath repair tools, armour wire monitoring and a product to repair breaches in outer sheaths.
