Flexlife Engineer Reaches Finals of Oil & Gas UK Awards

Flexlife engineer Kevin McDonald has reached the finals of the Oil & Gas UK Awards in the category of Young Technician of the Year.

The OPTIO sponsored category recognises the vital contribution made by the industry’s young technicians.

Kevin said: “It’s a real honour to be shortlisted as a finalist in this category, especially considering the number of talented people working in this field in the oil and gas industry.”

Sponsored by Shell U.K. Limited, the Oil & Gas UK Awards will be held on 3 November at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre.

Malcolm Webb, Oil & Gas UK’s chief executive, said: “This year’s showpiece event promises to be perhaps the best yet. I’m constantly taken aback by the sheer quality of the entries we receive as each year seems to surpass the last.

“The commitment, dedication and expertise we have seen in the entries is nothing short of outstanding. Its right that we honour the people like these who help make the UK oil and gas industry the dynamic, vibrant and forward-thinking industry that it is.

“I look forward to being able to join my colleagues throughout the industry in paying tribute to all of the finalists on the night. I wish all of them the very best of luck.”

All winners will be presented with a specially commissioned glass trophy by guest of honour, Sir Robert Smith MP before an audience of leading industry figures. Winners in the individual categories will also receive a cheque for £500.

Flexlife was Scotland’s fastest-growing young company in 2010 and estimates its total workforce in the UK and globally to rise to 120 by the end of 2011.

Flexlife reported an increase in turnover of more than 50% for year ending 2010/11, with a rise from £4.8million to £7.5million. A further rise to circa £18million is predicted for 2011/12.
