Fluxys LNG to build second truck loading station at Zeebrugge

Fluxys LNG decided to build the second truck loading station at it Zeebrugge LNG terminal as a response to a rising demand. 

The company has reached a final investment decision, saying the expansion will enable it to “keep waiting times to a minimum and bolster its position as a crossroads for LNG in Northwest Europe.”

According to the current planning, the construction of the new facility is set to start in spring 2018 and to be commissioned before summer of the same year.

Fluxys LNG noted the number of LNG truck loadings has been rising exponentially in Northwest Europe the past few years.

Since 2010, over 5,000 loadings have left Zeebrugge by road and by ferry, in order to supply remote industrial end consumers and to supply LNG as a fuel for ships and trucks in neighboring countries.

The project is receiving financial support from the European Commission through the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). The grant is part of a pilot project to facilitate the supply of liquefied natural gas to a new LNG-bunkering facility set to be constructed at the port of Gothenburg in Sweden.
