Former Hafren Power CEO Eyes Severn Estuary Barrage

Now former CEO of Hafren Power, Mike Davies, is setting up a new rival company, writes BBC.

Namely, Hafren Power wanted to build a GBP 25 billion barrage which would harness the tidal power from the Severn Estuary.

The proposal was slashed last year by the UK House of Commons’ Energy and Climate Change Committee that claimed that the barrage was “unproven.”

Ministers said: “In its current form, the Hafren Power proposal for a Severn barrage does not demonstrate that it could deliver the benefits it claims it would achieve.”

As a result, Mike Davies will pursue tidal barrage plans by establishing Severn Tidal Energy.
