Former Vitol LNG head joins Dreifa Energy

Dreifa Energy, a mid-scale floating LNG import terminals developer, said David Thomas will join the company’s board of directors.

In addition, Thomas, who brings over 20 years of experience in LNG trading, shipping, origination and projects will serve as the company’s strategic advisor.

Until 2017, he ran Vitol’s global LNG business after joining the company in 2006 to set up the team. He was responsible for all aspects of the LNG business, including origination and investments.

Prior to Vitol, David spent 20 years at BP primarily engaged in natural gas and LNG marketing and trading activities; he jointly established BP’s LNG trading business in 1999.

The company is developing mid -scale floating regasification terminals for LNG imports, with its concept consisting of regasification equipment and related utilities on a suited floating structure (FRU), operating in combination with a standard LNG carrier providing floating storage.

The company has acquired a platform supply vessel Blue Beatria in June from Blue Star Line in order to convert the vessel into an LNG floating regasification unit (FRU), with an initial throughput of up to 1.5 mtpa.
