Four Enter New York Offshore Wind Race

Four proposers responded to New York State’s first offshore wind solicitation with a total of 18 bids, according to the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA).

As previously reported, Equinor submitted a bid to develop its Empire Wind project in response to the state’s solicitation to procure 800MW or more of offshore wind renewable energy certificates (ORECs).

The second bid came from Vineyard Wind, a joint venture between Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and Avangrid Renewables, for the Liberty Wind project with the capacity of up to 1.2GW.

The other two proposers are Ørsted and Eversource Energy with the Sunrise Wind project, and Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind, a joint venture between EDF Renewables and Shell New Energies, a spokesperson for Shell confirmed to Offshore WIND.

Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind has yet to officially announce their involvement in the procedure.
