FPSO Aoka Mizu makes a stop in Spain for repairs

UK-based Hurricane Energy has informed that the Aoka Mizu FPSO has made a scheduled stop in Spain, which will be extended to complete some repairs.

The FPSO, destined for Hurricane’s Lancaster field Early Production System in the West of Shetland area, started its journey from the Drydocks World Dubai shipyard to Rotterdam in mid-October.

The Bluewater-owned Aoka Mizu FPSO had been at the shipyard in Dubai for a program of repair, upgrade and life extension works. Once it reaches Rotterdam, a final scope of work will be completed before the vessel is ready to proceed to the Lancaster field.

Providing an update on the vessel’s journey, Hurricane said on Tuesday that the Aoka Mizu FPSO has put into Algeciras, Spain for planned personnel changes and bunkering.

The company added that this stopover will be extended to undertake a repair to an auxiliary system associated with power generation and that commissioning activities which were being undertaken during transit will continue.

When it comes to the Lancaster development, back in August, the turret mooring system, including the newly-constructed buoy for the Aoka Mizu FPSO, was installed on the field.

In September, the installation of subsea umbilical, risers and flowlines (SURF) for the Lancaster EPS was successfully completed, marking the end of the offshore installation program.

The final stage of preparations at the field was a program of rock dumping to protect subsea infrastructure, which has also been completed.
