Frames scores work on Chevron’s platform offshore Nigeria

U.S oil major Chevron has awarded Frames a contract to design and supply a new gas dehydration unit with a glycol regeneration package for an offshore platform in the Niger Delta.

Frames said that the process package will be installed on Chevron existing Okan platform in the Western Niger Delta region.

Frames Group designs, delivers, and constructs separation, treatment and control and monitoring systems as well as total plant solutions and modules for the international oil and gas market.

Chevron is the third-largest oil producer in Nigeria and through Chevron Nigeria Limited (CNL), the company operates and holds a 40 percent interest in eight concessions in the onshore and near-onshore regions of the Niger Delta under a joint-venture arrangement with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

Okan is a mature field with a long history for Chevron. The first facility was installed in 1963, and its associated infrastructure was upgraded in 2004 to improve pollution prevention measures and safety systems and capitalize on its associated gas production.

The Okan project consists of an offshore gas gathering and compression platform (GGCP), an onshore gas plant, and a floating storage and offloading vessel (FSO).

Frames added that the new glycol-based gas dehydration unit would enable Chevron to expand the current gas dehydration unit of the Okan offshore platform and, in turn, increase the gas production from the field.

This is not the first Chevron project for Frames. The company previously designed and supplied solutions for Chevron in the Netherlands, Angola, North America, Pacific Indonesia, and Australia.
