Fugro Gears for Gwynt y Môr Survey in April

Geophysical survey operations are due to be carried out in and around the Gwynt y Môr offshore wind farm during early April 2017, AWJ Marine informs.

The vessel MV Meridian will carry out a geophysical survey over a period of up to 7 days, starting on April 4, 2017. However, the start date and duration of the survey may be affected by weather and sea conditions.

The survey work will involve both sidescan and multibeam sonar surveys. During sidescan survey work MV Meridian may be towing equipment up to 100 metres behind the vessel. The vessel will be mobilising from Liverpool and will operate on a 24 hour basis.

Throughout survey operations the vessel will display the appropriate lights and shapes and will require other vessels to maintain a wide berth of at least 500 metres.

The exact timing of the survey may be affected by the prevailing weather and sea conditions.
