Fugro Set for Neart na Gaoithe Geotechnical Surveys

Fugro is set to begin geotechnical surveys over the Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) offshore wind farm export cable corridor in UK.

The survey work will be carried out using Fugro’s ‘walking’ jack-up barge, Wavewalker 1, which will be towed to
site by the Neptun 10 tug.

The jack-up barge will be both towed by the tug and ‘walk’ independently between locations, dependent on ground conditions.

The survey will comprise intertidal and marine borehole locations at intervals from low water on Thorntonloch beach out to approximately 2km along the proposed Neart na Gaoithe Export cable corridor route.

Seabed samples will be collected at each of these locations.

A third vessel, either the Seagull or the Artemis, will also be on site as a guard vessel.

The survey is planned to start no earlier than Monday November 25, 2019, and last approximately three weeks.
