Fugro Wins Dutch Geotechnical Survey Contract

Fugro has won a contract for geotechnical site investigations at the Ten Noorden van de Waddeneilanden (TNW) offshore wind farm zone in the Netherlands.

The fieldwork will take place from February to May at the 700MW wind farm zone also known as the North of the Wadden Sea Islands.

According to Fugro, the project will comprise two phases, including a shallow subsurface investigation, followed by a borehole drilling program, and standard and advanced laboratory testing in phase two.

The final deliverable for the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO.nl) will be a data package used for preparing a detailed integrated geological and geotechnical soil model on which wind farm developers will base future tenders.

North of the Wadden Sea Islands is part of the government’s Offshore Wind Energy Roadmap 2030 which sets out plans for the development of 7GW of offshore wind capacity in the 2024-2030 period.

The project site covers a total surface area of circa 120km2 located 46 nautical miles off the north coast of the Netherlands.
