G6 Adds Halifax to Asia Suez Express Service

The G6 shipping alliance has added a call to Canada’s Port of Halifax to their Asia Suez Express (AZX) service linking Asia to the east coast of North America, triggered by market demand.

This move is expected to improve transit times from Canada to Asian and Mediterranean ports as well as from Asian and Mediterranean ports to New York.

The new port rotation will be: Laem Chabang – Singapore – Colombo – Damietta – Cagliari – Halifax – New York – Savannah – Norfolk – Halifax (new) – Cagliari – Damietta – Jebel Ali – Singapore – Laem Chabang

The first vessel to call at Halifax will be Hapag-Lloyd’s 8,749 TEU Budapest Express which will depart Laem Chabang on July 06. Budapest Express is expected to arrive at the Port of Halifax on August 4.

The G6 Alliance members are: APL, Hapag-Lloyd, Hyundai Merchant Marine, Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Nippon Yusen Kaisha and Orient Overseas Container Line.
