The 63,300 dwt bulker, loaded with coal, was en route from Indonesia to Gujarat’s Navlakhi Port, Financial Express reported.

As informed, the crewmembers, all said to be from China, inhaled gas generated from the coal which had remained packed for a long period.

The three men were taken to a local hospital. However, two of them were immediately declared deceased, while the third person was admitted for a treatment.

An investigation into the incident has been launched.

The 2017-built Feng Hui Hai, operated by China’s COSCO Shipping Bulk, is still anchored in the area, according to the vessel’s AIS data from MarineTraffic.

World Maritime News contacted COSCO Shipping Bulk for more details on the matter, however, the company is yet to reply.
