GasLog Adds Newly Built Gaslog Houston to Its Fleet

South Korea’s shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries handed over the newly built liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier Gaslog Houston to its owner on January 10.

Following delivery, the 174,000 dwt vessel commenced its charter contract, the Greece-based ship owner and operator GasLog informed.

Gaslog Houston was named on December 12 at the shipbuilder’s facilities, along with its sister vessel Gaslog Hong Kong.

Under an agreement signed between GasLog and British multinational oil and gas company BG Group in April 2015, both ships would be chartered to BG Group’s subsidiary Methane Services Ltd. (MSL).

At the time, the company said that MSL will charter the newbuilds commencing mid-2018 and early 2019 for average initial terms of 9.5 years.

According to data provided by VesselsValue, each of the ships has a market value of around USD 182.1 million.
