Gate LNG throughput spikes

The Gate LNG import terminal in Rotterdam received 372,000 tonnes of LNG in the January-March period, a 186.8 percent rise compared with the same period last year.

Overall, LNG throughput (incoming and outgoing) at the terminal was 517,000 tonnes in the mentioned period, a rise of 138 percent compared to 2014, according to data released by the Port of Rotterdam.

Allard Castelein, Port of Rotterdam Authority CEO, said that the port had a very strong first quarter with goods throughput rising 7.2 percent as compared to the same period of last year

The positive trend in the handling of mineral oil products and LNG is striking. After declining last year, oil products are now experiencing a strong recovery. LNG throughput is even growing in triple figures and is really getting into its stride,” Castelein said.
