Gate LNG throughput surges

The Gate LNG import terminal in Rotterdam received 313,000 tonnes of LNG in the first half of 2014, a 413 percent rise compared with the same period last year, according to the data released by the port of Rotterdam on Friday.

Overall, LNG throughput (incoming and outgoing) at the terminal was 550,ooo tonnes in the first half of this year, a rise of 801 percent compared to 2013.

The throughput of LNG increased primarily due to the rise in the re-export of LNG that is first discharged at the Gate terminal, according to the port of Rotterdam.
