Gazprom, Edison talks southern route gas supplies

Gazprom’s head Alexey Miller met with Marc Benayoun, executive vice president of EDF and CEO of Edison discussing the southern route of Russian natural gas supplies to Europe. 

The meeting focused on using the capacities of the ITGI Poseidon project within the framework of the memorandum of understanding and in light of reviving the TurkStream project, the statement by Gazprom reads.

In addition, the parties discussed gas supplies to Edison.

In February this year, Gazprom, DEPA and Edison signed a memorandum of understanding on natural gas deliveries across the Black Sea from Russia via third countries to Greece and from Greece to Italy in order to establish a southern route to deliver Russian natural gas to Europe.

The Poseidon project, the offshore section of the Interconnector Turkey-Greece-Italy (ITGI) is currently designed to transport up to 12 Bcm/y.

The TurkStream project is a new gas pipeline from Russia to Turkey will run across the Black Sea from the Russkaya CS near Anapa to Kiyikoy village in the European part of Turkey and further via Luleburgaz to Ipsala on the border between Turkey and Greece.
