Gazprom eyes LNG supplies to Pakistan

Gazprom’s head, Alexey Miller discussed the possibility of shipping liquefied natural gas to Pakistan at a meeting with Pakistan’s minister for petroleum and natural resources, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

The two parties discussed cooperation possibilities, especially the option of delivering Russian LNG to Pakistan, Gazprom said in a statement.

Pakistan recently issued a tender seeking a second floating storage and regasification unit that would serve as the country’s second LNG import terminal.

Gazprom is also looking to participate in future projects for the exploration and production of hydrocarbons in Pakistan.

In 2015, Pakistan’s LNG import terminal in Port Qasim, the Engro Elengy-chartered 150,900 cbm FSRU Exquisite, provided by Excelerate Energy, received around one million tons of LNG.
