Gazprom said on Friday it has established Gazprom NGV Europe, a company headquartered in Berlin.

Gazprom NGV Europe will operate as a unit of Gazprom Germania and will continue the natural gas for transport business, Gazprom Marketing and Trading said in its statement.

The unit currently operates 50 natural gas filling stations in Germany and has already constructed a further ten filling stations in the Czech Republic and Poland.

The newly established company fulfills the regulatory requirements of the German energy act, which stipulates the separation of trade and transport.

Uwe Johann from Gazprom M&T has been named the managing director of the unit.
