GDF Suez Establishes LNG Solutions, The Netherlands

With the establishment of LNG Solutions, GDF SUEZ is introducing a total LNG solution on the Dutch market. The new company helps transport and shipping companies in the Netherlands to make the switch from (marine) diesel to the more environmentally-friendly and less expensive LNG.

LNG Solutions – makes a sustainable contribution to the transport sector by selling LNG as a fuel for heavy road transport and shipping in the Netherlands and investing in LNG refuelling stations and bunkering facilities. The company is a 50-50 joint venture between Cofely Nederland N.V., that brings sustainable technological solutions into the joint venture, and GDF SUEZ Energie Nederland N.V. that provides LNG and energy marketing competences.

GDF SUEZ regards LNG as the fuel of the future. The most important benefits of LNG are the environmental gain and the financial saving. LNG offers various environmental advantages compared to diesel: The CO2 emission is 15-20% lower, the particulate matter content is 95% lower, the emission of sulphur reduces by 90% and of NOx by 80%. Also, engines running on LNG are less noisy. This reduction in noise pollution is especially noticeable with night traffic and in city centres.
