GDF Suez Reorganizes Energy Operations in Europe

GDF SUEZ is reorganizing its energy operations in Europe to anticipate changes in energy policy and continue to provide the best service to its 21.5 million gas and electricity customers by offering innovative product solutions adapted to their needs.

All the business activities that include gas supply and power production, energy management and trading, as well as marketing and sales of energy to customers are structured within a single Group business line, present in 13 countries and employing 30,000 men and women to offer the best service possible to European customers.

The combination and integration of these activities will increase the optimized use of the Group’s assets and give it greater flexibility to adapt to new conditions in the energy market. The creation of business lines alongside geographic entities is intended to strengthen operational excellence and give a European vision to all operations.

This new structure will improve the Group’s ability to anticipate major changes in energy in Europe, such as the integration of the natural gas and electricity markets, the growth of renewable energy, the development of new customer solutions that rely on energy efficiency, and even the development of “smart energy.”

The Energy Europe business line, headed by Jean-François Cirelli, GDF SUEZ Vice-Chairman and President, has been operational since January 1, 2012.

Gérard Mestrallet, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of GDF SUEZ, states: “The ambitious international growth of GDF SUEZ does not exclude expansion in Europe, its home base, which remains at the heart of the Group’s strategy. The Energy Europe business line, its 30,000 employees, and the diversity of its talents and cultures will play a crucial role in the Group of tomorrow.
