GDF Suez to spud Byrkje well this weekend

On Friday 28 February the drilling rig Transocean Barents goes on contract for GDF SUEZ E&P Norge AS to drill the exploration well 7218/8-1 Byrkje in PL 607 in the Barents sea, offshore Norway.

Transocean Barents has finished it’s operation at 7222/11-2 Langlitinden i PL 659 and will today sail towards the Byrkje location. The sailing is expected to last for 11 hours. According to the plan the well will be spudded during the weekend.

The drilling programme for wellbore 7218/8-1 concerns the drilling of a wildcat well in production licence 607, Byrkje. The area in this licence consists of parts of the blocks 7218/8, 7218/9 and 7219/7. The drilling operation is expected to last for 47 days.
