Genting Dream to Be Homeported in Singapore Year-Round

Asian cruise operator Dream Cruises plans to homeport its inaugural vessel, Genting Dream, year-round in Singapore starting from December 3, 2017.

This marks a first for Singapore to host a brand-new and large-scale 151,300-tonne cruise ship year-round, the shipowner said.

Designed for the Asian market, the new cruise ship was built and delivered by German shipbuilder Meyer Werft in Bremerhaven on October 12.

The 335-meter long Genting Dream, which has a capacity to accommodate 3,400 passengers and 2,000 crew, will call at more than 10 ports in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam during 2018.

“We are truly excited to deploy Genting Dream in Singapore, a popular and well developed travel hub for the Asian region with an excellent cruise and tourism infrastructure. Singapore’s prime geographic location also makes it the ideal homeport Genting Dream to cruise to popular as well as new ASEAN destinations,” Thatcher Brown, President of Dream Cruises, said.

Beginning December 3 to the end of March, Genting Dream would be deployed on two, five and seven night cruises, and from April to October 2018, the company plans to offer new itineraries with destinations in the South China Sea and the Java Sea.

Genting Hong Kong, Dream Cruises’ parent company, has led the development of an ongoing commitment to the Asia cruise industry by introducing Star Cruises in Singapore 23 years ago. Genting Cruises with the two brands – Dream Cruises and Star Cruises – will offer the largest cruise capacity days in Singapore and Asia by the end of 2017.
