GeoSea Installs First Rentel Monopiles

The first monopiles have been installed at the Rentel offshore wind farm by GeoSea’s installation vessel ‘Innovation’.

GeoSea, a DEME Group’s subsidiary, responsible for the design, supply, transport and installations of foundations and infield cables for the Rentel wind farm, contracted Sif Holding for the production of all 42 monopiles and, in joint venture with Smulders, all the transition pieces for the Rentel OWF.

The monopiles are produced by Sif. The transition pieces are produced by Sif in joint venture with Smulders, whereby Sif produces the primary steel and Smulders is responsible for the outfitting of the transition pieces.

The Rentel wind farm is located approximately 34 km from the Port of Zeebrugge and approximately 40 km from Oostende off the Belgian coast.

The OWF will consist of 42 Siemens D7 type wind turbines and will produce nearly 309 MW at its peak.
