Germany: Coral Energy Naming Ceremony Set for December

Coral Energy Naming Ceremony Set for December

On the 7th of December 2012 the naming ceremony of Coral Energy, a new LNG carrier, is going to take place at the Cruise Terminal in the heart of the city of Rotterdam. The Coral Energy is world’s first direct driven dual-fuel ice class 1A LNG carrier.

The development of the Coral Energy started in 2010 in close cooperation with Norwegian gas provider Skangass. The design of the ship makes it possible to deliver LNG to all sizes of terminals in an environmental friendly way. The ship provides LNG as a cleaner energy source to remote places and to smaller terminals where the LNG can be used amongst other as bunker fuel for other ships, power generation, and retail distribution.

The Coral Energy is being build at the Neptun Werft in Rostock, Germany. In recent months various important construction milestones of the ship have been reached, a.o. the vessel was successfully launched on the 30th of September.
