Germany - Maersk Line Goes Under Spotlight at Intermodal Europe

It has been a year of change for Maersk Line and at Intermodal Europe, on 29 November 2011, the carrier’s new business strategy will be placed under the spotlight during a special one-on-one interview with Søren Toft, Vice President of Operations at Maersk Line.

The carrier’s Manifesto for Change, announced in June, was positioned as an industry defining proposition and more recently the company claimed that its new Daily Maersk service would dramatically change the way shipping is done.

The announcements have been the subject of much debate over the last few months, with many industry commentators praising the company’s revolutionary stance, but demanding more information. During the 45-minute interview, Mr Toft will provide just that, as he answers a series of questions on how its operations will affect inland services over the coming years.

During the free-to-attend Intermodal Europe event, industry professionals from the road, rail and sea transportation sectors will be able to watch the exclusive interview live on the exhibition floor, providing them with an invaluable opportunity to learn how Mr Toft sees Maersk Line’s strategy affecting them develop in future.

Mr Toft will be asked to explain, amongst other things, how Daily Maersk will affect inland transportation, the role that road and rail will play in making shipping easier for customers, and how he sees Maersk Line working relationship with inland suppliers developing in the future.

What’s more, with a change in modality and sustainability being part of the Maersk Line strategy, Mr Toft will clarify what changes are expected in respect to the Inland transportation. Whilst, visitors will be able to hear how future market growth will impact Maersk Line’s inland operation and what it will be doing to meet future requirements for intermodal in Europe.
