Responding to the changing LNG market conditions, the international group of liquefied natural gas importers (GIIGNL) issued its new LNG custody transfer handbook.

The handbook provides practical guidance on the equipment and methodology for determining the thermal energy of liquefied natural gas (LNG) transported by ship for the specific purpose of title transfer, GIIGNL said in its statement.

During the preparation of the fifth edition of the handbook, GIIGNL mandated its technical study group to consult with the industry. The new handbook includes measurement procedures and equipment in relation to new technical operations such as partial (un)loading, reloading at LNG import terminals, ship-to-ship LNG transfer and small ship-to-shore LNG operations.

The new edition of the handbook provides answers and solutions for setting up altered or new custody transfer procedures GIINGL said.
