Gitxsan block Prince Rupert gas transmission project

Prince Rupert gas transmission project has been blocked by the members of the Gitxsan nation.

Members protesting claim that LNG traffic and other unauthorized industrial activity has been blocked off from the area.

According to the local sources members state that the PRGT conflicts with the nation’s interests and values due to the negative impacts on animal habitats as well as social, cultural and economic values.

The pipeline, if approved, would deliver natural gas to the proposed Pacific NorthWest LNG facility within the District of Port Edward and be approximately 900 km long.
