Spanish LNG operator Gas Natural Fenosa opened the first public LNG-fueling station in Barcelona’s Zona Franca with the energy company Petronieves.

GNF said it has invested about €800,000 ($909,000) in the project, that will serve the road transport industry and will also have compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling capabilities.

The station is specifically designed to supply natural gas to large trucks and provide natural gas to about a hundred vehicles.

Gad Natural Fenosa adds that there are 12 LNG stations in Catalunya currently, seven of which are owned by the company.

Overall, there are more than 6,000 natural gas-fueled vehicles in Spain and 54 public LNG stations, half of which are owned by Gas Natural Fenosa.
