Grand Canyon II vessel ready for work

Norwegian Ship owner Volstad Maritime and shipbuilder Kleven last weekend held an open day and a naming ceremony for the Grand Canyon II Offshore Construction/ROV/IRM Vessel.

The ceremony in Alesund, Norway, was witnessed by more than two thousand people.

The 126-meters long vessel designed by Skipsteknisk can accommodate 104 persons. Apart from being equipped with a 250 t crane for subsea installation work, the vessel also has a swimming pool, libraries, saunas, gym and a cinema with 50 seats.

The Grand Canyon II is designed for operation under severe weather conditions with high maneuverability and station keeping capabilities. The vessel will work for Helix Energy Solutions group on a five-year charter.
